The 'citations' tool in Google doc is pretty much a joke. Zotero doesn't run on arm-based laptop. So as an arm-based chromebook owner, Sciwheel is my good companion in writing scientific articles. I highly recommend it to people who are in similar situations.

This is great, I can get easily the references that are relevant to my working topic. And it is so helpful, I can cite and attach the references in my chosen format.

This used to work well for me and now it is terribly broken. I cannot insert citations, I cannot reformat the bibliography. Signing in and signing out / resinstalling the plugin does not work. It's a shame

All around terrible since it became Sciwheel (formerly F1000 Workspace.) This add on does not work and on top of that despite my university paying for a subscription with Sciwheel the website will not authenticate my subscription. The people working there only reset my account to give me an extra 60 days of full access and effectively told me it was a problem to take up with my university's library. I'm going to have to move all of my references to a more reliable service.

It appears that support for their app has ended, as the docs plugin hasn't worked since the beginning of the year. It used to be one of the best tools for writing papers in the lab, but it looks like we'll have to find another solution.

This is an incredible tool for adding citations. In particular, this is the only Google Docs add-on tool I found that allows me to create IEEE formatted citations, (numbers in square brackets). I highly recommend F1000. I tried the 3 other top add-ons for citations and they were either buggy, or were not capable of IEEE formatted citations. They also have an incredible citation manager (external site), which you use to import your citations. Easy to use once you get the hang of it. All in all, F1000 has created a great system for managing citations on a project, and inserting them in the format of your choice in Google Docs. I will use F1000 for all my future Google Docs projects that need to use references and citations.
